Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
